Half in, Half out; The Road to Embracing the Lifestyle of a Digital Nomad.
Hello my lovelies!
I really must start updating this journal more regularly! There’s always something creative happening! But finding the extra time in my chockablock days is a struggle!
I LOVE the lifestyle of an artistic nomad, but it has become apparent that I need to start embracing the digital, a lot more. While my heart is in traditional media and being covered in fibre or paint, the space I have to carry physical products and supplies is limited, and postage when I am in remote places (which is my preference); can be tricky! Driving two hours to post a an item worth $20 is not ideal! I am also quite fussy about how things are stored in a lived-in van; and storage itself is limited.
I have spent the last few months slowly building up the amount of time I spend creating digital media & photography. I think I have struck the perfect balance (for now). I spend the morning, working on digital creations and photography. The afternoon is for my comfort zone stuff, painting and fibre creations.
I have so many works on the go, which makes me kind of uncomfortable, I usually have only minimal projects on the go, and things are seemingly taking so much longer than they used to. Which is further extended by the need to learn a lot of new skills! Like Adobe Illustrator! Wowser. But ultimately its a great direction for me to go in, freeing up space in my van, no need to worry about postage, storage, packaging; the joys of a digital download!
So keep an eye out here, or on Etsy; KarlieSimsArt. Where you’ll find all sorts of new downloadables! I plan on starting another store HeartVanArt; for all van related art, down the track.
I am currently going through a backlog of photos as well, and have started to uploading some to Shutterstock and Adobe Stock. So check that out, i’d love your support with my nature photography! I hope to make some paintable reference images for my fellow art lovers to paint! I’ve included one for you here, for personal use only, paint and sketch away! If you do, I’d love to see it! (Flick me an email)!
Thanks for reading my lovelies, more rambling coming soon, haha!
